Bongo wasn't impressed with the Bongo-sized Russian dolls that Mr. Neil bought.  He thought they were "tacky" and pointed out that Mr. Neil wouldn't let him buy tacky stuff while they were in Paris.

Mr. Neil pointed out that Bongo might be able to fit inside of the biggest doll.

Bongo considered that...and changed the subject.
